At St Catherine’s, we understand how important it is for families to feel confident their loved ones are safe, respected, and genuinely cared for.
Why choose respite care?
We acknowledge caring can be rewarding, but also physically and emotionally challenging.
Temporary respite can assist relieve the stress on a carer and for their loved one receiving care, and it is also often a comfortable way to trial the lifestyle of residential aged care or assist a loved one gradually transition into permanent residency.
What types of rooms do you offer and how do I apply?
At St Catherine’s we have two permanent respite rooms, offering a private fully furnished bedroom with ensuite and a fixed phone line. Residents also have the option to use their own mobile phone if preferred.
Prior to acceptance into respite care, a person must already have an approved ACAS or Single Assessment. This entitles the person to 63 days of respite per financial year, providing the opportunity to trial different aged care facilities.
Respite is offered on a planned or emergency basis and is subject to availability. Bookings are accepted up to twelve months in advance, but due to the limited nature of respite places and rooms, such spots fill quickly.
